Robert Foley Wine Dinner - Hosted by Bob Foley!

SUNDAY, JUNE 24

6:30 PM

Robert (Bob) Foley began his wine making career in Napa Valley in 1977, working at a number of highly regarded wineries including Pride Mountain Vineyards, where he spent 15 years as founding winemaker. During this period he also created the highly acclaimed Switchback Ridge, Hourglass, Paloma, School House and Engel Family wines. He now focuses on Robert Foley Vineyards.

In 1998 Robert Foley Vineyards bottled its flagship Claret and has since expanded and diversified its portfolio to offer more of the big reds that Bob is famous for.

Bob’s reputation for producing very expressive wines that finish gracefully continues to develop at his winery facility on Napa’s Howell Mountain where more than 1500 barrels of wine are produced.
Bob has a staff of four who work tirelessly at handcrafting the wines, running the office and operating the tasting room.

When Bob’s not making exceptional wine, he spends time with his wife and business manager Kelly Kehoe, his two children, and his two granddaughters. You can also find Bob jamming with the Robert Foley Band when he’s not in the cellar or SCUBA diving.

1st Course

SEARED SCALLOP WITH GRILLED PINEAPPLE AND JICAMA SALAD
2014 Robert Foley White Blend, California
The aromas suggest a bouquet of honeysuckle, jasmine, and citrus blossoms. The mid-palate feels like a flood of honeyed white fig, carried by natural grape acidity. The purity of fruit carries long in the lingering finish. Best experienced slightly chilled. It is vinified in stainless steel, settled, clarified, and bottled young and crisp. The wine is bottle-aged for 18 months before release. The resulting wine is crisp and delicate, and focused entirely on the character of the fruit.

2nd Course

BALSAMIC GLAZED GRILLED PHEASANT BREAST WITH SUMMER SUCCOTASH
2013 Robert Foley Pinot Noir-Hudson Vineyard, Carneros, California
Beautiful garnet hue. The aroma suggests a medley of strawberry and raspberry with a slight hint of toasty oak. Medium body and lively on the palate, the crisp natural acidity lifts these aromas and provides a long elegant finish. Aged one year in 100% new Burgundian cooperage and another year in the bottle, the 2013 Pinot Noir is drinking very well, with ample natural acidity to develop for years to come. This Pinot’s expression and balance combine to create a wine of nuance, finesse and beauty.

3rd Course

BOEUF A LA FICELLE WITH ZUCCHINI AND BOURSIN WHIPPED POTATOES
2013 Robert Foley Claret-Napa Valley, California
Our flagship wine is full and rich and utterly even across the palate. The Claret, Napa-style, is made of the best we have- a classic Left Bank Bordeaux-style blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 3& Petit Verdot. Ripe back cherry and toasty French oak aromas open with hints of menthol and lavender. The mid-palate is elegantly even and beautifully balanced, allowing the flavors to coat the mouth and linger long on the finish.

4th Course

BRAISED ANTELOPE IN SOUR CREAM, WITH SWEET POTATO PUREE AND MICRO SQUASH
2015 ROBERT FOLEY “THE GRIFFIN”, CALIFORNIA
Bottled in Spring of 2017, this vibrantly youthful red blend is an inky dark red leggy wine! Red berry fruit aromas and flavors evenly coat the palate and linger long in the finish. Gently gripping tannins carry a hint of espresso character. A delicious blend of bright fruit flavors. Delicious in its youth, this red blend will age elegantly for many years.

Dessert

CHOCOLATE FLOURLESS CAKE WITH STRAWBERRY WHIPPED CREAM
2013 Robert Foley Touriga National Ruby Port, Napa Valley, California
The 2013 “Purple Label” Napa Valley Cabernet is 100% varietal in composition, yet, again this year, it is a blend of intense ridge-top fruit and our favorite stony Calistoga vineyard, where the high rocks create thermals, drawing warming air through the vine rows, working the magic of ripening. A deep, dark wine, with the classic ripe Cabernet character of black cherry carried in the aromas and flavors. The body and middle of this wine carry a sweetness of fruit which is framed with gentle tannin. Perfectly ripe and perfectly balanced.
